Kota Eye Hospital was the first eye hospital in Kota to start Phacoemulsification way back in 1994. Today cataract surgery has evolved many folds. New machines and better technology IOLs have enabled surgeon to provide excellent post operative vision to the patients.
At our centre, we perform all of our routine cataract surgery with topical anesthesia. The Micro-Incisional Cataract Surgery using sub 2mm incision doesn’t need any anesthetic injection. Moreover, cataract surgery has become nearly sutureless in today’s era and so the patients can go back home on the same day and to their jobs very quickly after surgery. Due to this cataract surgery is a part of Day Care Surgery now-a-days.

Each cataract surgery requires implantation of an Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) inside the eye after removal of cataract. The aim of any cataract surgery is to provide clear vision for distance vision. But depending upon the structure & dimensions of the eye and the visual needs of the patient, IOLs are available with varied features.
IOL power calculations are done using Zeiss IOL Master 700, World’s most accurate, fast and precise technology that helps you to get rid of glasses after your cataract surgery. Such accurate measurements are one of mainstay for good visual outcomes.
Let us look at the types of IOL available and what benefit they provide to the patient:
Monofocal IOL : helps patient to see clearly for distant vision. Although he will require glasses for near vision.
Monofocal Toric IOL : when patient has corneal astigmatism, he will require a toric IOL implantation otherwise he will require glasses for both near and distant vision.
Multifocal IOL : helps the patient to see clearly for both distant and near vision for routine work. For extreme limits of vision, a small glass power may be required.
Multifocal Toric IOL, when patient has corneal astigmatism, and doesn’t want to wear any glass, then he is best suited for this IOL
Trifocal IOL : this type of IOL has additional focal point between the near and distant focal points and thus provide far better vision in all ranges of vision to the patient without need for routine spectacles.
Trifocal Toric IOL : when the patient has corneal astigmatism and wants to go Trifocal IOL, in that case he will get best results with Trifocal Toric IOL.
Most importantly, delivering best visual outcomes and happy patients is the job of your doctor. The experience, the level of skill, precision and the gentleness of your surgeons hand is the main factor that decides how good will the outcome be.
